Helophyte filter with Swamp Plants. Beautiful and functional.
Marsh plants, also known as helophytes, are aquatic plants that are particularly common in wetlands, banks, temporary waters and flood plains. The unique characteristic of this type of plant is that it can withstand the alternation of dryness and full immersion in water. However, this must be balanced, as prolonged submersion can cause growth retardation/death due to a prolonged lack of sunlight. On the other hand, prolonged drought can also cause marsh plants to dry out.

Using marsh plants in the pond or garden
These helophytes are excellent for use in the following situations:
- Garden border;
- Boggy soil (swamp);
- Underwater. About 30 to 40 cm underwater.
As you can read, marsh plants are suitable for various conditions and each type of marsh plant has its unique characteristics. For example, there are helophytes that are grassy and reed-like, but you also have marsh plants with beautiful flowers that will really beautify your pond.
Water-purifying marsh plants
These types of plants are also often used for water purification. This is called a helophyte filter/marsh plant filter. This is by means of bacteria living on the soil, which convert waste products in the water into nutrients. The role of the marsh plants in this is that the roots provide a suitable habitat for the bacteria. This makes it a very cost-effective means of purifying water.
