Some species develop beautiful flowers, a pretty sight in the pond! Chickweed and crabberry have inflorescences with pretty white flowers, while water hyacinth bears very pretty purple flowers. Water gentian is also a beautiful bloomer and develops yellow flowers with a serrated edge. Some of these plants have another function besides the beautiful inflorescence; creating shade in the pond.
